Job Creation

REAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT MEANS GOOD JOBS, GOOD WAGES & REAL BANG FOR THE BUCK

If we want a Strong Economy for All, we need good jobs and economic development more than ever.

But we don’t need more giveaway subsidies that throw money at businesses while ripping off the taxpayers.

We can create more jobs at better wages for a stronger middle class – but we have to make the right choices.

More Bang for The Buck In Economic Development

Too often over the last two decades New York’s economic development programs have not benefitted the public.

Our state has provided huge subsidies and tax breaks to profitable businesses without getting jobs and tax revenue in return.

Regular taxpayers and small businesses have seen their taxes go up as a direct result of tax breaks for other, more politically connected businesses.

We’ve started to steer these programs towards more accountability and more transparency, but it’s time to do more.

New Yorkers want more jobs, better wages and decent benefits from our economic development programs – and we shouldn’t accept any less than all three goals in each initiative.

It’s right to regionalize our economic development strategy, it’s right to build on university research and growing industries – but we’ve got to make sure public money is used wisely and effectively.

The Strong Economy for All Coalition will work with Governor Cuomo, legislators and the private sector to improve New York’s economic development programs and make sure we get the most bang for the buck.
