“The 99% Return” at Zuccotti Park Rocks #S17

Labor, community, student, faith and Occupy activists filled Zuccotti Park/Liberty Square today at Noon for an amazing hour-long speakout on the fight for the 99% and how OWS and allies have worked together to fight and win.

The event filled Zuccotti after a morning of intensive and successful protests throughout the Financial District carried out by thousands of well-organized and joyous marchers.

Camille Rivera from United New York, Jonathan Westin from New York Communities for Change and Mike Kink from the Strong Economy For All Coalition MC’ed the “99% Returns” action, which included dozens of speakers from unions, community groups, student coalitions and faith groups and over a thousand Occupiers from all over the country.

Occupy changed the debate in the USA and gave a huge push to our fights for the 99%.  From taxing millionaires to raising wages, creating jobs and a stronger economy while holding Wall Street and the 1% accountable for their destruction of the economy, OWS stood with us and we stood with them.

And in many cases, we began to gain ground for the first time in years, helped by a broader public understanding of the huge division between the 99% and the 1% in our country.

Today has been a great day to tell the world about our fights, our victories and our victories to come.
