The Route to Economic Fairness Starts in Kingston Wed Oct 3

Strong For All and allies from labor, community, student & faith groups are working to make economic fairness a key issue in this year’s elections for the U.S. House and State Senate in New York — and the road starts Wednesday, October 3 in Kingston with a town hall forum and debate-watching party.

We’ve invited candidates Cecelia Tkaczyk and George Amedore who are running in one of the state’s most closely-watched State Senate elections, and we’ll be inviting union members, community activists, students & faith leaders to grill them on fair taxes & budgets, jobs & wages, investments in education & higher education and public financing of elections — you should join us!

We’re proud to be working with some of New York’s most energetic and engaged unions and community groups, including NYSUT, CSEA, AFSCME, Citizen Action, the Alliance for Quality Education, Labor-Religion Coalition of NYS, New Yorkers for Fiscal Fairness and the Working Families Party to get the word out — and to join up in a new roadmap away from income inequality and towards prosperity for all.

Join us for pizza, politics and prime-time debate action in Kingston next Wednesday!  All the details below:

Too many politicians have been steering us in the wrong direction: New York is now #1 in the nation for income inequality.

It’s time for a roadmap that takes us away from austerity towards prosperity and a stronger economy that works for all of us.

• FAIR TAXES & FAIR BUDGETS
• BETTER WAGES & MORE JOBS
• INVESTMENTS IN EDUCATION & HIGHER EDUCATION
• PROTECT SOCIAL SECURITY, MEDICARE & MEDICAID
• CORPORATE MONEY OUT OF ELECTIONS

Map the route. Talk to the candidates for State Senate who want a turn at the steering wheel – and stay to watch the Presidential Debate!

• Half-hour presentation on key elements of the roadmap to economic fairness, with a focus on how Albany can take action to support the 99%

• Forty-five minute discussion with candidates for the State Senate on how they’d get us on the road away from income inequality and towards prosperity for all (invited: Cecelia Tkaczyk, George Amedore).
