Hundreds of New Yorkers have joined us at our “Route to Economic Fairness” town halls across the state this month, and lots of local labor, community, student and faith groups have asked for the Powerpoint we’ve been using to tell the story of how New York became the worst state in the USA for income inequality and how we can move in a different direction.

It’s clear that austerity for the majority and special deals and tax breaks for the tiny minority aren’t working. New York is mired in unemployment, and we’re actually creating ONLY low-wage jobs. We’re on the wrong path.

Too many politicians have been steering us in the wrong direction: as we’ve said before, New York is now #1 in the nation for income inequality.

At our town halls, hundreds of New Yorkers have told us that our state needs to do better.

It’s time for a roadmap that takes us away from austerity towards prosperity and a stronger economy that works for all of us.  We need new government policies — and more elected officials — that move us away from austerity towards prosperity for all.
